The Support AFAD Volunteer Training Program, conducted in collaboration with AFAD to enhance the knowledge and skills of our university members regarding disasters and to train individuals who are better equipped to respond to emergencies, was completed with practical training sessions held on June 19 and 20, 2025, at the AFAD Yeşilköy Facilities.
During these two-day practical training sessions, which marked the final phase of the program, participants received comprehensive training on basic search and rescue, tent setup, and fire response. Under the guidance of AFAD experts, participants had the opportunity to test and reinforce what they learned through scenario-based practical exercises.
During the training process, particular emphasis was placed on issues to be considered in search and rescue operations following disasters, with a focus on the proper use of equipment, coordination, and safety. In firefighting training, intervention techniques for different types of fires were demonstrated through practical exercises. In tent erection exercises, basic setup techniques for post-disaster shelter needs were conveyed to participants.
The Support AFAD Volunteer Training Program, which began on June 16 with “First Aid Training,” included a Light Search and Rescue Theoretical Training session on June 17 and a Disaster Communication Training session on June 18. The program aimed to equip participants with the skills to respond quickly, accurately, and effectively in the event of a disaster through theoretical and practical training.
