What to Do in Emergency Situations at Our University

These are events that require emergency response (earthquake and flood, etc.), combat, first aid or evacuation, such as fire, explosion, spread of hazardous chemicals, natural disasters that may occur in all or part of the university.

Things to Know Before an Emergency Occurs/Do in Case of Experiencing:

1. We need to learn the location of the Emergency Assemble Area where we should go in case of an emergency. The emergency assemble area is the area where the sign shown below is located. Follow the green emergency direction signs and go to the Emergency Assemble Area.

*In case of emergency, elevators are not used, only stairs are used.

2. In the building we are in, we need to choose at least two road options that you can use to go to the Emergency Assemble Area in case of an emergency. If you have a road option in mind, please remember that the road may be closed due to an emergency. When descending the stairs, if there is a green "Emergency Exit" sign on the door, exit through this door.

3. In case of emergency, always act according to the directions on the green Emergency direction signs.

4. If the cause of the emergency is a fire, first aid must be given to extinguish it by using the nearest fire extinguisher within one minute after the fire is noticed. For this reason, the location of the fire cabinet/fire extinguisher closest to the area where you work and the way to use the fire extinguisher are learned.

5. If the cause of the emergency is an earthquake, the equipment that you think will not be crushed in the closed environment you are in, even if the ceiling collapses during an earthquake, is determined and the side of these equipment is the source of a life triangle for us until the earthquake passes. In case of an earthquake, you can immediately take shelter next to these equipment. If there is no equipment in the environment that you can take shelter next to during an earthquake, try to stay diagonally opposite the nearest column. If the building collapses, there is a possibility that the collapsed column may become a source of life triangle for us.

6. When you arrive at the emergency area, you are registered for the roll call.

7. Any negativities seen or experienced while leaving the building you are in are reported to the relevant personnel while counting in the collection area.
